Evaluation of My media product
1) In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge the codes and conventions of current media products?
My media product has the qualities of current media products use. It uses the same conventions such as my newspaper front page used the same codes and conventions as current newspapers. My ideas expressed through my product come from examples of my product. Using other examples gave me structure and showed me things i should and shouldn't include such as ideas of which kind of adverts to advertise through newspapers and it also gave me chance to look at how they are organized. I didn't challenge the code and conventions as i wanted my products to be recognized and for my audience to be able to identify it for what it is. For my website i used many features featured on current websites such as weather updates, business search directory. On the second page of the website which i made a sports page, i chose to use alot of green. After researching current sports pages for newspoaer website i saw that green was a colour used particulary for the sports page as it gives connotations of football and outdoor sports.
2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?
The quality of my main product is influenced by my ancillary task. It has improved qualities and shows a development of ideas. My anciallary task and my main products link very well. I have tried to keep the main product and the ancillary looking similar as in layout colours and font styles. The content included in the ancillary and the main product at first, i hadn't really looked at relating them in any way. I included different content oneach of the products. The newspaper pages and website pages all contain different storylines. The colours used in all the products are all very simliar and all contain the same range of colours, them being black red, white blue and green. This made it blend and recognisable that they are ment to be a part of each other.
3) What have you learned from your audience feedback?
My audience feedback allowed me to make positive changes to my products. It allowed me to make improvement and progress by taking on the criticism along with the positiveness. During the progression of my products i chose to ask for feedback throughout the time of making to product. Therefore my product is based and formed around audience feedback. I couldnt take on all the feedback given as i wanted to keep my own personal opinion about it in without having to changing it due to feedback.
Collectiing feedback allowed people to give me new ideas that i hadnt thought of and include them in to improve my work. I have learnt that there is always room for improvement. I was given feedback for the second page of my newspaper" that i should change the text from times to arial but i hadn't taken into account which font i had used for the front page. therefore i had to adjust the font text twice and left it how it was originally.
4) How did you use media technologies in the construction and research planning and evaluation stages?
I used media technologies throughtout the whole production of the ancillary and the main product. The one i used the most throughtout the whole project was photoshop. I found that it was quiet easy to use and effective. I used photoshop to make my Poster and Website pages. I also found it effective to use to make all my adverts which i included in my newspaper pages and on the website pages. I had already had experience in using this software because of using it in the As media project. To make my tmobile advert/ banner i tried to use flash player as i wanted to make a moving image banner to place on my website page. I found it too hard to use Adobe flash player therefore i decided to just make the banner as a still image. To make my newspaper pages i used indesign , i found it hard to get used to using but got the hang of it eventually. The last software i ended up using was adobe dreamweaver. i found it very confusing. I transfered the files from photoshop to dreamweaver by saving for web and devices through photoshop. I was given a template which allowed my to copy and paste in my work in dreamweaver which i found easier. It broke up the headline the main content and the banner.

Main Page Website Research
My finished Poster
I wanted to contain as little writing as i could. I made the background picture black and white so that the rest of the text stands out over it. I left a blank space for the readers to be able to read the word basildon. This shows that it is a local newspaper without having to write the word local as it shows it is only relevant to the Basildon Community.
I included the website on the poster as readers may wish to find information from the website.
The only colour on the poster is the name of the newspaper and i think the name of the newspaper is the most important part of the poster as it needs to be recognized it makes it the first thing you look at when you first glance at this poster.
The caption, i wanted to make it very personal to the reader so they feel like its their newspaper. By putting its your community, it makes the audience feel more personal and that its theirs, information in there is for them.I didn't want the black writing to clash with the black and white background therefore i made the writing capitals and bold.
Step 1
I collected a photograph of the known basildon sign. Since my newspaper is a local newspaper for the basildon community.
i felt having such photo would make it more personal to the audience.
I also change the colour to black and white to five it the newspaper feel.
Step 2
Secondly i add my newspaper title surrounded by thin straight lines to make it stand out. I kept the title with colours as i feel the title is the main part of the poster.
It allows the name to stand out from the rest of the page.
The next thing i had to do was think of a short caption to finish the poster.
I wanted to keep the poster looking simple.
Step 3
The last part was thinking of a caption.
I decided to have " filled with all that there is to know, its your community"
I felt that it attract my audience as it was written in a way which comforted the audience as it uses words such as "your"
I used capital letters for it to stand out.
