My main article
My main article i chose to base it on a " high street shop having to close down due to being in debts)
I specifically chose this topic since it focuses on the community and reinforces the fact that it is a local newspaper. This is my front page article title. I used a popular std font a size 76.

High Street Clothes Shop Lillys Goes Bust
The article below is the story for the front page article- size at 8.7 with a font of Times.
"Yesterday Basildon’s High Street biggest seller in woman’s fashion in 2006 sadly went bust after its dramatic increase in costs during the recession, which knocked the company down to the ground, it was discovered they had been in enormous depts. since they expanded their company in 2008 opening two shops Southend and Lakeside Shopping Centre. Six months after top rivals Twenties moved opposite, Lillys has just gone downhill after making over a 50,000 profit in just one year,
Lilly’s has been forced to close down, after being unable to continue.
The company has another two shops in Southend and also in Lakeside shopping centre, which are also closing down. Manager of Lillys Steven McRoger stated “Its not a problem of not having enough customers, its the cost of staying open which is the issue. We receive over 500 customer a day, but since our business’s objective is to offer affordable quality clothes, therefore cost are much greater than income” . Amy Lindlewood said “ I really loved that shop I cant believe its closed down, everything in there was value for money.” The shop is soon to be taken over by a small independent company “ISMASH” which is a technological company specializing in mobile phones and other gadgets.
It’s a company looking to expand, opening mid July.... "
I used this photograph of a closed down store.
I used photoshop to edit this photograph to wipe off its original name and write in my articles store name " lilly's fashion".
At this point i am not sure if i'm going to keep it as it is. As it looks photoshoped and unrealistic, i am looking for an alternative.
Research of Newspaper Adverts
Local newspapers consist of a large amount of adverts. More adverts than articles. To find my ideas for my own adverts I chose to research some which already exist to give me some ideas of what to include. These are some I found.
